New Member to Obama's Cabinet

As we know president elected Barack Obama has appointed Bill Richardson and Hilary Clinton to his cabinet. He appointed Richardson as secretary of Commerce and Hilary Clinton as Secretary of state. They have agreed on taking such big responsibilities. Obama has made history not only because he became the first African American to become president but also because he has chosen to diverse this cabinet as much possible and now he has appointed General Eric K. Shinseki as Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

General Shinseki was Army chief of staff during the Bush administration and was spoken badly about when he dare to question the strategies been used in Iraq. General Shinseki will now make history by becoming the first Asian American Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Obama is confident that he is the right person to deal with the war and help bring back the troops as soon as possible. Obama keeps thing and making sure that the people he appoints to his cabinet are the good enough are willing to do the best they can to help the United States recover.

Latinos are upset at Barack Obama

During Clinton's administration Bill Richardson was energy secretary and ambassador to the United Nations he has enough experience to be the Secretary of State, so what happen? Well we don't know and Latinos are upset that Hilary Clinton was offer the position over Bill Richardson after he favored Barack Obama over Clinton during the Democratic Primary. Grass-root immigrant rights activists disagree with the possibility of Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano to be nominated as head of the Department of Homeland Security. Latinos like the fact that Obama wants to make this cabinet a divers one but want more Latinos to be involve in higher positions. Latinos feel their leaders were nominated as a last resource because Obama was nominating white men , women, and African Americans before nominating any Latino until Bill Richardson. We start to see Latinos been place in higher positions for example last Wednesday Cecilia Munos was appointed as the director of Intergovernmental Affairs administration and Bill Richardson as commerce secretary. Latinos might be upset right now but soon will realize that this adminstration will help the United States recover and it won't matter how many latinos were involve what matter is that they help.

United States in Afghanistan

Robert Gates secretary of Defense wants to add U.S forces in Afghanistan. He believes that greater security will be need for next year elections in Afghanistan. United States have 31,000 troops in Afghanistan and are planning to add 3,500 Marines by the end of the year. By January they want to incorporate 5,000 Army Brigade in Afghanistan along with planes and helicopters.

The situation in Afghanistan is in its worst conditions since 2001 because twice as many Americans died in Afghanistan than in Iraq and U.S troops are five times bigger in Afghanistan than in Iraq. Today's meeting strategies were discussed and Gates wants more money spend and more troops sent to Afghanistan. This will add up and double the army in Afghanistan since 2003. Even though the U.S has this in mind other countries disagree and are refusing to help. The United States have asked the NATO allies and Japan but they refuse to send troops and fund this war. The reason why they refuse to help at this point is because they too suffer economically.

Obama pushes Congress

Barack Obama has declared that if congress does not do pass an economy plan then he will make it his first order as President. Obama states that, I urge them to pass at least a down payment on a rescue plan that will create jobs, relieve the squeeze on families and help get the economy growing again.” He has people working in Congress making sure that they are working on it. Obama states that fixing the economy will be his main priority as President. The Bush administration presented the plan of 700-billion-dollar rescue deal for Wall Street ,Obama wants that to help those who might be loosing their homes. He believes that we can create new jobs and strengthen the middle class by having such a bad economy.

He has already appointed Valerie Jarrett as Senior advisor and assistant for intergovernmental relations. He is considering appointing Hilary Clinton as Secretary of state. Obama's intensions are good especially for the lower class and that is something that the upper class is considering bad. They have no economic recession since they have all the money in the world, but we have to deal with having no money.

Barack Obama's Speech

created at TagCrowd.com

Obama's Presidential Speech contain concepts such as "black", "white",an "American" to emphasis how important it is to be a united "community" were we can make history. He was the first African- American to become president of the "United States" and he explains that no matter our race we are a "union" and he is willing to maintain that while he is President. His  big idea was "change" and has definitely achieved that not only has he made history but the United States has also made history because we open doors to other races and are willing to give opportunities.

He states that we all have different stories, but we all have common "HOPES". He is  willing to work towards a perfect union with the help of all and secure that our children and grandchildren have a save future. Obama explains that the problems we face are all our Problems and there is discrimination there. He share his story and inspired me to never give up because it is possible for a Mexican- American like me to become President.

Election Days and American Soldiers

Even though American Soldiers fight a war in Iraq they have an opportunity to vote. Today’s Election turn out will decided the out come of their mission in Iraq. Soldiers vote through absentee ballots and those were sent home long ago. Even though many young soldiers favor Obama some favor John McCain because of the fact that he was a veteran and wants to bring this war to victory. Those who want Obama to win want change and of course they want the war to end. Obama has announced that he is willing to bring back the troops in at least 16 months. America soldiers might be too busy to follow the elections, but they have hope that the right decision will be make. The way the election turns out will change the course of things in Iraq. Even to the soldiers the Elections are very excited and they wish they were here to really experience it.

The Iraq Community also has hopes in the Election. They are excited to have a president in the United States that can hopefully help them in their country. A Baghdad resident states that, “We hope that the new American President will open a new page with our country which was suffering along 35 years under former regime and is still suffering a lot under the occupation.” He believes that they have no freedom and their wealth is not under their control. Yet there are others who believe that choosing the right President can bring disaster to their country. A woman stated that if Obama withdraws the troops too fast it could cause chaos in their country.

Highest voting turnout election

As we know voting turn out has decrease overtime it might be that the candidates are no interesting or simple people careless and less. This election of course will be different not only do we have interesting candidates but it has made history. It's expected that this year the voting turn out will be the highest in the decades. Experts predict that this election will bigger than the election of 1968. Youth and Latinos are predicted to vote more likely than previous elections. Early voting has also been out the roof this election. This election is similar to the election in 2004 but it's looking better in voting turn out. It's calculated that at least 130 million will vote because they believe that we are under such bad condition. Democrats at this point have been voting earlier than Republicans. Hopefully people think really hard for this election making the right choice is important for the sake of the country.

Ashley Todd attacked by an Obama supporter?

Ashley Todd is 20 year old college student from Texas who was attacked by a 4-6 foot black man. Todd was robbed at an ATM and she was put down to the ground after the man saw she was a McCain/ Palin supporter and pinned a big "B" on her cheek. She immediately took this story to the police. The police had high suspicions that this story was not true because the "B" was pinned backwards which lets them believe that she might have done it herself. When She came back to have a sketched drawn about the men the police questioned her about her story and went trough a lying detective test. Soon it was define that she was not telling the truth and she was charged with making a false report. Her parents have not been contacted and they have no explanation to why she did it. They can only suspected that it was a mental illness. On the other Hands there are others who might believe this was a strategy to get attention. It might be because McCain's volunteers are worried that he is losing and that he needs extreme attention. Lets only hope that he was not behind all this stupid joke.

The Last Presidential Debate

Yesterday’s last presidential debate Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain referred to the common person as Joe. The question was should Joe be worried about taxes and his business.

Obama replied that, “It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too. My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's going to be good for everybody . . .. I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

Obama wants to make sure that everyone has an opportunity and even if they don’t vote for him once he is president he will help everyone in the country. McCain believes that Obama’s plan will not work because it will increase taxes among people and no one wants to pay higher taxes including himself. Obama’s goal as president is cut 95% of peoples taxes once the economy is stable.

Through out the debate Senator John McCain kept referring to Joe as “my old buddy”. It wasn’t clear how McCain was willing to relate to the common person but there was a lot of confidence behind his talk but no action. McCain constantly avoid the questions and went around it. He seem to constantly find the flaw in Obama’s plans and he never seem to state his own opinions or state what he believed in. McCain was the Tap dancer, dancing around Obama.

The Worst Presidential Debate in History

The second Presidential Debate was considered the worst debate in history. Of course there has been boring ones but this one had to be the worst of all. Senator Barack Obama and John McCain meet on Tuesday night in Belmont University they both were not inspiring and were timid when it came to answering question. In our situation where a war is going on and economic problems the candidates seem to lose focus.

In this presidential debate many things were proposes even before the debate happen. Things were planned out and even the moderator was disappointed with the way things were handled. The moderator stated, “This moment is too important to allow misinformation to go unchallenged and serious issues to be ignored." Candidates had lame answers to really serious issues like the war and the economy. The audience had to sit through 90 minutes of a boring debate and television ratings were still really high.

The worst debate in history portrait the attitudes of both McCain and Obama because once they were consider of great personality and historical records but in this cases it was different none had an appealing personality.

Palin lost the Vice Presidential debate

As we all know tonight was the Vice-Presidential debate. Sarah Palin did not meet the expectations required from the critics. They concluded that she was the loser of the debate. In past interviews Palin lack knowledge on McCain’s history. In this debate she was a lot more confident talking about the issues she knew: Energy. When asked about Sub-Prime Mortgages, she changes her conversation to Energy again because she didn’t know anything about the issue. During the debate Palin talked about "General McClellan”, commander in Afghanistan when in fact his name is General David McKiernan. Palin continuously looked down at her notes and criticizes Biden and Obama.

Biden on the other hand listens to her stand in the issues and stated his stand on the issue without needing to use notes. From the very beginning Biden was thinking intelligently. He also stated that Bush is to be blame for such bad economy and McCain is right under the same wing. Biden believes that McCain has the same ideas that Bush had on the economy and the War in Iraq. Palin seem to dislike his statement but only smiled.

The Vice Presidential Candidates only had one change to state their opinions on important issues and according to critics Palin did a not so good job.

The bailout plan goes to the House.

The 700 billion bailout plan will go to “the house for a vote Monday”. The biggest bailout plan ever in the U.S history has been supported by both presidential candidates. The plan is to use taxpayers’ money to buy home mortgage-related assets. President Bush stated that the vote can be difficult but he is confident that congress will pass it. He believes that without the plan in action the American economy could be dreadful.

Even though congress leaders and the White House came to an agreement this Sunday, they believe that the money should be strongly controlled. This means the government can only get the money as they need it for example $250 will be given immediately, if really need $100, and lastly $350, of course this conditions can be vetoed by President Bush. Even if the plan gets the majority of votes on Monday Congressional action will not place until Wednesday. The House Republicans and Democrats have met to talk about how this plan isn’t a bailout plan it is more of a way to help the economy turn around.

Senator Judd Gregg states the bottom lines is, “If we do not do this, the trauma, the chaos and the disruption to everyday Americans’ lives will be overwhelming, and that’s a price we can’t afford to risk paying. I do think we’ll be able to pass it and it will be a bipartisan vote.” We can only hope that this plan actually work because so far Bush ideas have not work for the last 8 years. Lets believe he is actually THINKING for the peoples benefits.

How can we restore our economy?

Early this morning president George W. Bush’s administration revealed a plan that can cost hundreds of billions to buy a bag mortgages. The secretary of treasury, Henry Paulson stated that this plan can out taxpayers’ money at risk. The Bush administration has asked congress to do whatever they can to review the plan and make a decision. This plan has to be good enough in order to really make a difference and make it through congress.

Paulson stated that he has discussed the plan with leaders of congress to expand the program. This plan has to be big enough to see change and protect taxpayer as much as possible. It is the peoples’ money they are putting at risk in the market. Paulson is convinced that this will help families than hurt them because we can’t continue to have financial institutions broke or credit cards frozen. The security of Americans depends on restoring financial institutions. A program like this has to well deliberate because we can’t afford to loose any more money. The program can cost the U.S billions of dollars and that is a big risk to take. Hopefully if everything goes right we can stabilize the economy, the housing system, and our financial market.

Is Sarah Palin a Lier?

The Vice-Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin had previously mention in an interview that she had travel to Kuwait and Germany to visit U.S troops, but she forgotten to mention that she has also made a stop in Ireland in July of 2007. Sarah Palin was participating in a ceremony of the Alaska National Guard. Last week in an Interview with ABC News Palin was question on her foreign trips, and she forgot to mention her visits to Ireland for the Alaska Nation Guard ceremony because it was not “important”.

An investigation on her foreign travels it was declared that Sarah Palin had lied about her trip to Iraq visiting the U.S troops. An assistant had explain that Palin stop at a “military outpost” in Iraq, but the Global and members of the Alaska National Guard reveal that she has not gone beyond the borders of Iraq and Kuwait. Schmitt stated that Palin was “guided” be a pentagon general in Iraq, but Lieutenant Coronal Dave Osborn said that she has never set foot in Iraq. So what is the real truth?

Senator Barack Obama had nothing to really say except that the McCain-Palin Campaign lies to people. How can we really trust a candidate like Palin to help the nation when she is not even clear on her national engagements? The memo is that,” Since naming Gov. Palin as their vice president nominee, the McCain campaign has distorted, distracted and out right lied to the American people about her record in a desperate attempt to hide the fact that a McCain/Palin administration would be nothing more than a continuation of the failed Bush policies of the last eight years”. If this is true we will only find out if McCain becomes President.

6.1% Highest Rate of Unemployment in 5 Years

Companies have come out with plans of cutting payrolls because of the terrible economy. Workers from financial services, airlines and even from manufacturing can be home with out work because businesses want to keep making profit. In order to keep making profit companies have announce cutting down on salaries and benefits for workers. These companies believe that cutting jobs can help them grow once economy begins to recover.

In 2008, 550,000 people don’t have a job which makes 6.1 % the highest rate of unemployment in 5 years. Analysts have advice companies to be careful because dismissing to many employees can really harm the company. Dismissing skillful workers can leave companies behind in the competition and once it has to rehire they have to retrain new workers, therefore slowing production.

Analysts also advise companies to teach the workers how to reduce expenses and maybe even give workers that option of working in a different position while the economy recovers. The "no lay offs" policy protects workers from getting fire just because the economy is in bad conditions. In fact Staffers has ideas about how to get work done efficient and in less expensive ways. On the other hand you have economist for JPMorgan Chase who thinks that the U.S has at least six more months until the economy begins to recover.

This election had been the hope of the people because the right candidate can only really help the economy, so pray that people think for everyone else and make a difference.

Removing American Troops in Baghdad?

Since the war began in 2003 4,147 U.S military personnel have died in Iraq. Baghdad’s Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki wants U.S troops out of Iraq by 2011. Al-Maliki knows that they can come up with a compromise to remove the troops. The U.S on the other hand wants to continue training and advising Iraq's security. Even though the White House and Iraq have not made a decision yet.

The White House spokesman Tony Fratto said he really wants Iraq and the U.S to reach a mutual agreement on flexible goals, but President George W. Bush wants to keep playing guessing games. President Bush has stated that he wants to set a “General time horizon” which means that a date is not actually set. The Prime Minister Al-Maliki doesn’t agree with that term in fact he dislikes the term “General Time Horizon” because he does not have an exact time when the troops will be removed.

The U.S and Iraq have worked on a date to remove American Combat Troops from Baghdad. They has slightly consider June 2009. But the U.S is very frustrated with the Iraqi officials because they consider negotiation really difficult to make. They have to go through at least 275 members in parliament. Part of the parliament is against finding an agreement.

Hopefully the U.S and Iraq find a compromise and remove the troops in Iraq because we really need to save soldiers lives. In general the war should completely end.

Is Democratic-led Congress to blame for the high gas prices?

Congress left on the month of August to break without a solution to the fuel prices. Democrats have proposed to use reserve petroleum or to encourage companies to drill on leased federal land, but republicans don’t want to. Republicans consider going out to look for petroleum in the areas of the Outer Continental Shelf which is the, “sloping land that stretches for miles undersea between the coastlines and the deep ocean” just like they are doing now in the waters in the western Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska, but congress has restrictions against getting petroleum form the ocean floors.

This makes President George W. Bush very upset and blames the Democratic-led congress, he claims that, “they need to stop standing in the way of expanding domestic production and take meaningful steps now to address the pain caused by high energy prices.” President Bush believes that by drilling oil in the outer continental shelf, drivers, and small business, farmers, and ranchers would be relief from paying so much money for gas. He also believes that drilling for petroleum can be done in an environmental way.

Even though President Bush blames the Democratic-Led Congress, House speaker Nancy Pelosi report that lawmakers consider drilling oil in outer continental shelf already. This will hopefully provided more petroleum supply and reduce high prices. Experts say that petroleum from the ocean floors can provide America with gas for at least 10 more years, but what good can it do. What will happen after we run out of petroleum? Finding more can only continue to harm the environment therefore making global warming worst.

Are they playing games or what?

In the 2008 elections presidential candidates seem to attack each other. For example starting out with Obama and Clinton, now it is between McCain and Obama who insult each other especially through their presidential ads.

In the last Presidential ads coming form John McCain he has planted the idea that Obama doesn’t have enough experience to become the president. He has also mentions that, “the bottom lines is that Sen. Obama’s words, for all their eloquence and passion, don’t mean all that much.” Senator McCain has not only insulted Obama politically but has also insulted him personally. He has stated that, “Celebrities like to spend their million. Barack Obama is no difference. Only it’s your money he wants to spend.” Senator McCain has aired about 13,000 anti-Obama ads and only 302 don’t mention Obama which means that the other 12,698 do mention him or have a hidden message against his campaign. There are people who are willing to support Obama even through messages against him, and those people are mostly young voter and blacks and also are found among women.

McCain is not the only throwing punches because Obama is ready for the fight. Senator Barack Obama has aired 10,000 and 9,000 ads are against Senator John McCain. Obama’s latest ad criticizes McCain’s economic plans. Obamas has mention that McCain is just another Bush because he has similar ideas like Bush towards the economy. That’s why Obama question the people in America “Can we really afford more of the same?” Obama has also question McCain’s pride towards the country challenging him to stop the war. Yet McCain had many supports among whites, men, republicans and evangelicals.

It seems to me like the Presidential Election of 2008 is very interesting especially because the attacks seem to be very candid. Well I don’t really know if we expect maturity from the candidates, but they seem to be concentrated on who can come up with better comebacks and not as much on how they can really help the country.

Barack Obama or John McCain?

There is much talk about how the economy is in terrible conditions and question who would do something to improve it; Senator Barack Obama or senator John McCain?

A few years ago during Bill Clinton's administration senator Hilary Clinton proposed to raise taxes in order to improve the economy and today senator Barack Obama has consider the Olympics 2008 to air his economic plan ad. In a brief 30 second commercial Obama explains what his economic plan includes: demanding overseas companies to pay taxes. He is willing to help those business that help create job opportunities in the United States. He is also willing to lower taxes to help the middle class families. Obama claims he will raise taxes to those who make 250,000 or more annually even though it can take 10 years to occur. Experts on the other hand don't see that raising taxes can really help grow the economy since only 20 percent make about 250,000 a year.

Former Chief Executive of Hewlett-Packard mentions that," the reality of Barack Obama's record is the following: he has voted to raise taxes 94 times in his short time as senator." Obama really believes that raising taxes can help the growth of economy. Obama has hope that his plan works in the long run.

Meanwhile Senator McCain's campaign express that Obama's plans of raising taxes would not work in the contrary it can hurt the development of employment. McCain plans to improve the economy by lowering taxes.

Who is really willing to improve the economy? Right now the odds favor Barack Obama.
